Getting started

Where is Q-popper after I open it?

Q-popper has no Dock icon. Look for the Q icon in the menu bar at the top right of the screen. Click it to open the menu.

I don't see the Q icon

On MacBooks with a camera notch, macOS hides menu bar icons when the bar is full. Set a keyboard shortcut in Settings › General (for example ⌃⌥Space): it opens Q-popper from any app, even when the icon is hidden. Quitting a few other menu bar apps also frees space.

How do I add apps and websites?

Open the menu and choose Settings… (⌘,). In Items, click + and choose Add App… or Add Link…, or drag an app from Finder into the list.

Using the menu

How do I change the order?

In the menu, hold an item for about half a second. Edit mode turns on: drag items to reorder, click × to remove one, then click Done. ⌘Z brings back an item removed by mistake before you click Done. You can also reorder in Settings › Items.

Keyboard shortcuts

Change the look

Settings › Appearance: list or gallery layout, icon size, original or tinted icons, and a system, color or gradient menu background. For any item you can set your own image in Settings › Items.

Settings and data

Open Q-popper at login

Turn it on in Settings › General. If macOS asks for approval, allow Q-popper in System Settings › General › Login Items.

Back up or move my items

Settings › General › Backup: Export Items… saves your apps, links and custom icons to one file. Import Items… adds them on another Mac and skips items you already have.

Tips

Q-popper is free. Tips in Settings › About are optional, are processed by Apple, and don't unlock anything.
